1. Explore the TIME article or the FAO SDG 2 site to build your own case study on an attempt to tackle food insecurity. Build it around the following pillars of food security:
Within your concept map, identify different scales (local, national and international).
2. Outline the advantages and disadvantages of contemporary approaches to food production, including genetically modified organisms (GMOs), vertical farming and in vitro meat. Make sure perspectives. are emphasised. i.e. who thinks what.
3. How do the approaches you identify in question 2 support the issue in question 1? If you are in class, you will explain this in a micro lab:
SHARE: the first person in the group (of 3 people) shares their thoughts for 2 minutes. The other group members listen attentively WITHOUT COMMENT or INTERRUPTION.
PAUSE: for 30 seconds in SILENCE to take in what was said.
REPEAT: for persons 2 & 3 in the group, as above.
DISCUSS: as a group 5-10 minutes, referencing the comments that have been made and making CONNECTIONS between the response of the group.
