FDI & TNCs

Objective: explore two contrasting examples of how FDI and TNCs impact networks, places and markets.

Outcomes:

Starter: give yourself "2 minutes, 3 marks" per slide to describe the pattern and trends in bullet points.

1. Summarise the FDI changes you have noted in the above graphs.

2. Now define FDI.

3. Clarify what the global shift is and evaluate its impact in HICs and LICS.

4. Working in pairs, research two contrasting examples of TNCs (one could be Unilever from Core 2). You need to understand:

• their global strategy
• supply chains
• outsourcing
• how they network places and markets

When you have done your research, create a Venn to compare the two. You will share this with your peers in a 2 minute presentation.
