1. Explain the causes of the decline of Detroit.

2. Outline the consequences of this decline;

• economically
• socially
• demographically

3. Outline the impacts of the decline specifically on crime rate, including the geographic patterns.

4. Detroit has taken steps to manage the decline and break the cycle of deprivation. Outline them (there is also this page from Time magazine). Make sure you refer to green space in the city.

5. Some of the slum clearance has been controversial and contested. Explain why.

6. It's not all bad in Detroit. You need contrasting examples of two affected neighbourhoods and their populations. Here is a good place to start - work in pairs to build a table comparing them compare your findings. Again you should look specifically at green space improvements.
