Spheres of Influence

Objective: explore the concept of spheres of influence in relation to touristic resources.

Outcomes:

Starter: what is this?

1. Draw your own version of the above and give examples in it about yourself to develop your understanding of the concept of the sphere of influence.

2. Define sphere of influence in relation to sporting and touristic facilities. Page 230 of the textbook will help.

3. Add three pins to your Case Study Map layer to indicate sporting or touristic facilities in Tashkent city / region with a sphere of influence of:

• 1km radius (local community)
• 10km radius (districts)
• 40km radius (city)
• 100km radius (national)

Make sure each pin has a description of the facility (e.g. primary / secondary / public / private etc) and an explanation of the sphere of influence.
