Objective: explore the growing importance of political and cultural influences on international sport participation.

Outcomes:

Starter: what does this show?

1. Identify political and cultural factors which impact sports participation.

2. Is international sporting participation encouraged? How? Why?

3. There are many international agreements regarding participation in sport. Choose one and summarise its aims. Is there any evidence it has been successful?

4. Identify a sport that has recently made changes to improve inclusion of a gender not normally associated with that sport. Make brief notes as an example including the influence of changing gender roles in society.

5. Explain why the paralympics is seen as 'growing in importance'.
